Missions

Open Door Baptist Church promotes and supports several Southern Baptist mission causes: Ola Cox State Mission, Annie Armstrong National Mission, and Lottie Moon International Mission. Open Door also supports the West Virginia Southern Baptist Cooperative Program which contributes to the North American Mission Board and to the International Mission Board. Each year since 2000, Open Door has participated in mission trips throughout the Upper Ohio Valley and Tri-State areas.

Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Chain is a ministry that is available to all in need of prayer. It is available to give anyone and everyone the chance to request prayer for any circumstance. Prayer requests can be phoned into the church or can be mailed to ODBC@FRONTIER.COM. Our prayer group meets each Wednesday night at 6:00pm to lift up the various prayer requests received throughout the week.

Sunday School

Sunday School historically has provided a dual emphasis of evangelism and Bible study Sunday School provides an effective tool in developing and maturing believers and also provides effective ministry to members and creates great fellowship among people Sunday School generally is considered an open group strategy that provides an opportunity for a person to join a class at any time. Sunday School classes meet each Sunday morning at 9.45 a.m.

Adult Bible Study

One or more Bible Study groups for adults are available every Wednesday at 6:30pm.

Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry is comprised of women of various ages and backgrounds who seek to minister to other women within the church and throughout the community. This ministry meets monthly on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm for Bible study and also connects with one another through prayer groups, outreach, mission events, and fellowship activities.

Women’s Missionary Union (WMU)

The WMU meets on the first Tuesday of each month for fellowship, devotions, and to discuss and plan the missions focus for the church The goal of the WMU is to challenge Christian believers to understand and be involved in the mission of God The tasks of the WMU are to pray for and give to missions, to do missions, to learn about missions, to develop spiritually toward a mission’s lifestyle and to participate in the work of the church and the denomination.

Worship and Music Ministry

The main priority of the Worship and Music Ministry is to seek personal holiness in order to lead the congregation in worship There are opportunities to participate in the worship and music ministry through special music events. The Praise Team meets on a regular basis and leads worship every Sunday morning.

Multimedia Ministry

Our multimedia ministry meets the needs of our worship leaders for our various worship services The multimedia ministry enhances the worship at Open Door with both audio and visual technologies The individuals who serve in this ministry must be dedicated to attend each church service and to assist the worship leaders in meeting the needs of the church.
